Man Used Layaway As Distraction for Shoplifting: Blotter

Evergreen Park retail theft reports, Nov. 2-4.

Here are a few of the recent retail thefts from Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St., Evergreen Park:

MONDAY, NOV. 4

Joseph Colbert, 27, of the 8200 block of Marshfield, Chicago, was charged with retail theft, according to an Evergreen Park police report. Colbert is accused of stealing $45.46 worth of clothing at about 5:30 p.m. A security guard allegedly saw a man putting clothing down his pants.

SATURDAY, NOV. 2

David Allen, Jr. 55, of the 9100 block of Perry, Chicago, was charged with retail theft, according to a police report. He is accused of taking 5 DVD movies, valued at $29.96, at about 4:32 p.m. Allen put a digital TV on layaway. When the employee was handling the TV, he allegedly put five movies into a large black bag he brought along.
