A Chicago man was busted for a small amount of pot after taking a buddy to the hospital for a gunshot wound.

Jamie L. Winsley, 20, of the 7500 block of South Hermitage Avenue, was charged with possession of marijuana, improper lane use, reckless driving, speeding, driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance, according to an Evergreen Park police report.

Winsley was stopped for traffic violations at about 6:40 p.m. on May 31 near the intersection of 95th Place and California Avenue, according to the report.

Police found that he was taking a passenger to the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound, according to the report. A search turned up 1.2 grams of a substance that tested positive for marijuana.

Both men were coming in from the City of Chicago, according to police.

The man suffering from the bullet wound was treated in the emergency room at Little Company of Mary Hospital, police said. The shooting was turned over to the Chicago Police Department for investigation.
