Man Busted for Posing as Police Officer

Police said a man who displayed a police badge was caught and charged two days later.

A man claiming to be a police officer was caught by someone who recognized his face.

Police said Alsip resident Fernando Flores 23,  was at the 103rd Street and Kedzie Avenue Shell gas station on April 30 at 1 a.m., when he displayed a police badge to a woman, saying she “looked a bit young to be out this late.”

According to police reports, when the woman reached to get her driver’s license, the passenger in her car recognized Florez and told the driver he didn’t remember him being a police officer. Police said they later received an official complaint from the woman and took Florez into custody on May 2, charging him with felony false impersonation of a police officer.
