UPDATE: One Lane Reopens After I-57 Crash

A crash that injured seven had shut down the interstate in both directions this afternoon, Chicago Tribune reports.

A crash that injured at least seven people on I-57 Thursday afternoon could mean major delays during the evening rush hour, the Tribune reports

Three vehicles were involved in the crash, which occurred around 1 p.m. in the southbound lanes near 159th Street in Markham. Traffic was shut down traffic in both directions following the accident, according to the report. 

Two people with life-threatening injuries were airlifted from the scene, and five were sent to area hospitals, according to the report.
