Flood Advisory in Effect for Evergreen Park

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for Evergreen Park, in addition to a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 a.m.

The heat has calmed down a bit in town, but thunderstorms have revved up Tuesday morning with potentially damaging winds and warnings of floods.

The National Weather Service has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory and severe thunderstorm watch for Evergreen Park and other Cook county towns in northeast Illinois, in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday, temperatures are expected to reach 86 degrees with a low of 73 in the evening.

At around 6:07 a.m., the NWS's doppler radar saw thunderstorms with heavy rainfall moving toward the area producing rainfall in excess of one inch per 30 to 45 minutes. The severe thunderstorms may produce damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour. The NWS says runoff from the rainfall may cause minor flooding, especially near low water crossings and small streams. Officials warn residents:
