Bank Robbed By Man With a Gun and Fake Beard

An Evergreen Park bank was robbed by an armed man on Sept. 15. The FBI has released an image of the suspect.

A local bank was robbed on Saturday and the FBI is looking for a suspect who was captured on tape.

A man walked into First American Bank, 3221W. 87th Street, at 9:30 a.m. and engaged in what the FBI describes as a "takeover style robbery."

He entered the bank, threw a plastic bag to the teller and told her, "you know what this is," police said.

The man displayed a steel revolver and took both tellers who were working over to their drawers and demanded that they put the larger bills in his bag, police said. He then had the two tellers empty the contents of the safe into his bag as well, police said.

The man then exited the bank and went southbound on foot, police said. He used a red rag to open doors when exiting and entering the bank.

He is described as a black male between 40 and 50 years old and standing around  5-foot-10 inches tall. He was wearing a dark jacket, blue baseball cap and white shirt, according to a surveillance image captured at the scene.

The tellers told investigators the man was wearing what they believed to be a fake beard.

If anyone has any information about the crime they are asked to contact the Chicago office of the FBI at (312) 421-6700.
