Fake Name Used to Trick Cops Matches Man Wanted for Arrest

Tory Walker, 44, of Chicago, is accused of giving Evergreen Park police a fake name and date of birth, according to police. The information he gave matched someone with an active warrant for his arrest.

A Chicago man allegedly gave a fake name to police that matched a man wanted by the law.

Tory Walker, 44, of the 900 block of West 54th Street, was charged with obstructing identification on July 11, according to an Evergreen Park police report.

Police spoke with Walker when he and another person at Walmart, 2500 W 95th St., were stopped because of a disturbance in the store.

The name and date of birth Walker told police was actually for someone who was wanted on an arrest warrant, police said. He was taken into custody. A check of his fingerprints determined he wasn't the guy wanted by the law.

The second person involved in the disturbance, Latonia R. Cooper, 43, of the 11300 block of South Union, Chicago, also was arrested. Cooper is accused of yelling profanities at store employees and was charged with disorderly conduct.

Evergreen Park police were already at Walmart investigating a separate retail theft incident when the disturbance happened, according to a report.

They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
