Evergreen Park Police: DUI Driver Damages 6 Cars in Her Neighborhood

Evergreen Park woman, who told police she'd consumed a single glass of wine, faces multiple charges.

A 57-year-old Evergreen Park woman faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence, after damaging six cars parked in her neighborhood, police said.

Karen P. O’Connor was pulled over in her green Ford Explorer around 11:13 p.m. Sunday after leaving a swath of damaged cars in her wake, according to the report.

Officers were responding to a traffic crash call in the 2700 block of 94th Place, when another officer informed them he had stopped O'Connor's vehicle, police said.

Police said O'Connor drove eastbound, striking two vehicles in the 2500 block of West 94th Street, two vehicles in the 2700 block of West 94th Street, a vehicle in the 2600 block of West 94th Place, and another vehicle in the 2700 block of West 94th Place.

O'Connor declined to take a field sobriety test at the scene and told police she'd had a single glass of wine, police said. She also yelled at officers, saying, "You better catch my dogs and bring them back to me," according to the report.

She took a breath test at the Evergreen Park police station and registered a blood-alcohol level of .201 percent, police said. The legal limit in Illinois is 0.08 percent.

O'Connor was charged with driving under the influence, multiple counts of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, multiple counts of failure to give information on a crash, and one citation for driving without insurance, police said.
