TUESDAY, JULY 26

Irate Teen Beats Up Evergreen Park Mom

An Evergreen Park teen was charged with battery and criminal damage to property after she attacked a woman who questioned her relative's behavior, police said. Jasmine R. Wilson, 18, of Evergreen Park, was in a park near the intersection of 97th Street and California Avenue with a developmentally disabled male relative, according to the report. That male relative approached a young child in the park, causing the child's mother to become concerned about the interaction between the two, police said. Wilson and the child's mother then got into an argument, with Wilson allegedly punching the other woman about the head and breaking her glasses, according to the report.

MONDAY, JULY 25

Sam's Club Employee Stealing On Job, Police Said

An employee at the Evergreen Park Sam's Club, 9400 S. Western Ave, was charged Monday with felony theft for stealing from the big box retailer, police said. Eva D. Taylor-Coleman, 34, of Chicago, had $1,175.80 missing from her cash register drawer on July 12, according to the report. Store security agents then reviewed security tapes, which showed Taylor-Coleman removing money from the drawer on three separate occasions, then failing to place it in the cash bag, police said. After store security agents questioned the woman, she admitted taking the money, and store officials contacted police, according to the report.

SUNDAY, JULY 24

Theft Arrests At Walmart

Three women and one man were charged with retail theft in three separate cases Sunday at the Evergreen Park Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St., police said.

Around 12:26 p.m. Bichelle Davis, 51, of Chicago, was arrested after she placed $37.34 of merchandise in a bag and exited the store without paying, police said. The items included Advil and K-Y Lotion, according to the report.

Around 7 p.m., Tyler J. Turner and Nastasha J. Plunkett, both 18, took took jewelry and accessories valued at $68.13 and $42.66, respectively.

Around 10 p.m., Stephen T. Russell, 35, of Chicago, took four PS3 video games, valued at $99.84, concealed them inside his pants and walked out of store without paying, police said.

FRIDAY, JULY 22

Drug Charges Follow Friday Traffic Stops

Two men and a woman were charged in drug-related offenses after three separate traffic stops by Evergreen Park Police, according to the report.

Around 12:30 p.m. Friday, Justin R. Schifferdecker, 29, of Oak Lawn, was stopped in the 3100 block of West 99th Street, police said.  Schifferdecker was charged with driving on a suspended license and with driving without insurance, according to the report. After police found a gray-colored spoon with white residue, numerous zip bags with white residue inside and one hypodermic syringe inside his vehicle, the Oak Lawn man was charged with drug paraphernalia, according to the report.

Around 6 p.m., Gregory D. Floyd, 32, of Chicago, was pulled over in the 2600 block of West 87th Street for failing to signal during a turn, police said. Officers then found 27 tablets of hydrocodone, a homemade foil pipe with burnt residue and 4.2 grams of cannabis in Floyd's glove compartment, according to the report. The Chicago man was ticketed for failure to signal, driving without a valid driver’s license, and unlawful possession, police said.

Around 9:27 p.m., Stephani E. Manuel, 34, of Chicago, was pulled over in the 9500 block of Western Avenue, police said.  A clear plastic cup containing alcohol and a hand-rolled cannabis cigarette was then found in Manuel's car, according to the report. She was charged with unlawful possession, and also ticketed for illegal transportation of open alcohol in vehicle and driving on a suspended driver’s license, police said.
