Man had huffed one of two cans of aerosol duster purchased from Oak Lawn store, police said.

An Evergreen Park man faces charges of unlawful use of an intoxicating compound when he was caught huffing from a can of multi-purpose duster, reports said.

Oak Lawn Police responded to a report of a man huffing from an aerosol can in the 4000 block of West 95th Street around 5:58 p.m. July 5.

Officers observed a man identified as Kyle C. Summers, 40, of the 2900 block of West 97th Place in Evergreen Park, holding a can near his face with a red straw in his mouth, reports said.

Police said that Summers explained how he bought two cans of Maxwell Blast Away Multi-Purpose Duster at Kmart, but had only inhaled one can, reports said.

According to police, Summers admitted to huffing cans of the aerosol duster several times a week for several months. He did not know why he started huffing but is “addicted to the high.”

Summers told police that he wished to get treatment, reports said.

Earlier in the afternoon, officers responded to another call involving Summers, police said. Summers was believed to have been inhaling multiple cans of aerosol duster and was voluntarily taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center for treatment, reports said.

Police placed Summers under arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 20.
