Crack Dealer Nabbed within 1000 Feet of a School: Police

Ursula S. Velez, 38, of the 6400 block of South Rockwell, Chicago, was charged with delivery of a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school and possession of a controlled substance, according to a police report.

Police said Velez was the subject of a drug investigation on June 25 near the intersection of 87th Street and Kedzie Avenue and allegedly was seen making a sale.

Velez had a total of 8.3 grams of crack cocaine when she was arrested, police said.

The delivery charge stems from 0.4 grams of cocaine she is accused of selling within 1000 feet of Luther South High School, according to police She had another 7.9 grams with her on top of what she allegedly sold.

Bail was set at $50,000. Velez is due on July 22 in Cook County court.
