Police Blotter: Cops Catch Woman Accused of Multiple Thefts

Evergreen Park Police reports: April 16-May 4

FRIDAY, MAY 4

Cops Catch Repeat Offender

arrested Chandra Dase, 40, of Chicago and charged her with felony retail theft. Police said Dase matched the description of someone who had stolen from Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St., earlier in the year. Store security found her around 3:10 p.m. walking out to Walmart’s parking lot, pushing a shopping cart. Police said as they approached, Dase left the merchandise, took her purse and started to walk away.

Store surveillance showed Dase removing items from Walmart and exiting the store without paying. Due to her previous background, felony approval was given. Police said Dase took assorted clothing items and toilet paper totaling $540.45 from Walmart.

Drunken Driver Lodges Car into House

After police discovered a pickup truck that had hit a house, they found that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. According to reports, police responded to the call at 9:30 p.m. in the 8800 block of Troy Avenue, and the driver, Rodrigo Miran, 41, of Evergreen Park, was detained. Police said they smelled alcohol on his breath, then he failed field sobriety tests and “failed to take a breathalyzer test.”

Police charged Miran with felony driving under the influence of alcohol, improper backing, droving on the sidewalk, reckless driving, failure to reduce speed, revoked driver’s license, no insurance and illegal transportation of alcohol. Because Miran’s license was revoked for a recent DUI conviction, felony approval was given for felony driving under the influence, police said.
