Cook County Sheriff Asks For Public's Help in Identifying Found Remains

New 3-D scan technology used to create sketch of some skeletal remains that were found in 2008 that police hope will trigger investigation.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying some found remains found over four years ago.

Landscapers found the skeletal remains in a wooded area near Pershing Road and Central Avenue near Cicero in July 2008. The deceased was found in a remote area on Metropolitan Water Reclamation District property. Sheriff’s Police estimate that the body remained there for three to eight months prior to its discovery.

Using new 3-D scan technology, a forensic artist able to create a facial sketch of what the victim looked like in real life. While not exactly a mirror image of what he looked like, Sheriff’s Police hope it could job someone’s memory that may have been familiar with the deceased victim’s face, the Cook County Sheriff's office said in a press release.

The deceased is a white male between the ages of 55 to 75 years old, with gray/brown hair and approximately five-feet-one and five-feet-six inches in height. The victim is described as having “an obvious crooked nose” and gap between the two front teeth.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office press release does not mention whether foul play is suspected.
