Chicago Woman, Minor Caught Stealing

Evergreen Park police say a woman and a 13-year-old attempted to steal numerous items from Walmart.

A woman and a minor were caught red-handed when they tried to steal from Walmart, Evergreen Park police said.

According to police reports, Brittany Dye, 21, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft for stealing from Walmart, 2500 W. 95th St.

At about 7:15 p.m. on May 15, loss prevention agents were conducting floor surveillance and reported seeing Dye select multiple items off shelves and put them in shopping bags. Dye took four assorted clothing items, valued at $43.24, according to reports.

Police said a 13-year-old with Dye took 28 assorted items totaling $77.49. Police said the two exited the store, passing the cash registers without paying. According to police reports, officers took Dye into custody, while the juvenile was turned over to a grandmother.
