Victim Tackled Accused Burglar Mid-Crime: Police

A 19-year-old Evergreen Park man was charged with residential burglary on Aug. 2, police said.

The victim of a burglary and a couple of his friends held down the alleged burglar as they waited for cops to arrive, Evergreen Park police said.

Dandre M. Hunter, 19, of the 9200 block of South Kedzie Avenue, Evergreen Park, was charged with residential burglary on Aug. 2, police said.

Hunter is accused of burglarizing the home of a neighbor at about 2:48 a.m. in the 9200 block of South Kedzie Avenue.

The victim returned home to his apartment mid-burglary and stopped Hunter, who had several items belonging to the victim wrapped in blankets, police said.

At least three people held Hunter until officers were able to take him into custody, police said.

Bail was set at $50,000.
