Accused Armed Robber from EP Held on $400,000 Bond

Evergreen Park resident Marcus Parker, 23, and a Chicago man are accused of an armed robbery spree on Chicago's North Side in early December.

An Evergreen Park resident is being held on a $400,000 bond in connection .

Marcus Parker, 23, of the 9800 block of South Maplewood Avenue, is charged with armed robbery with a firearm, two felony counts of aggravated robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition without a valid firearm owner's ID card.

Police said they arrested Parker and another man on a CTA brown line train after the two robbed a pedestrian in the 2900 block of North Mildred Street on Dec. 4.

Parker was allegedly carrying a fully loaded handgun, as well as several items reported stolen in that area within the last few days, including cell phones and credit cards.

A co-defendant, Joel Shavers, 22, of the 10400 block of South Peoria Avenue in Chicago, is charged with three counts of armed robbery with a firearm. He’s being held on a $375,000 bond.

Both men are scheduled back in court on Dec. 28 for possible arraignment. They’re awaiting a formal bill of indictment before pleading to the charges.

According to court records, Parker was arrested for battery in 2008, though the charges were later dropped.
