2 Stabbed at Weekend Party

No arrests have been made in a double-stabbing from Sunday morning, according to Evergreen Park police.

Two people were stabbed at an Evergreen Park party early Sunday morning.

Evergreen Park police said they were called at about 1:28 a.m. for a disturbance at a party in the 9600 block of Utica Avenue. Two people were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for treatment.

Police did not release the identities of the stabbing victims and did not know their conditions.

No arrests have been reported. Police said the stabbings remain under investigation.

Witnesses posted reports to Facebook of the entire 9600 block being cordoned off. Some residents reported receiving messages alerting them to the situation.

Anyone with information can contact the Evergreen Park Police Department at (708) 422-2142.

Good comments neighbors, good reporting Nick. I didnt mind the early morning txt, after all the swat team was running around. Must have been terrifying for neighbors on Albany & Utica. And, I (imho) would rather eppd over-react than under/insufficient. I was pleased & proud ofthe men&women

P.S. Looking forward to reading about arrests...that sort if behavior is unwelcome in our lovely little village.

EP Police did a great job as usual. Now let's get some names of the low lifes arrested? The first was identified by a witness at 3am. Both LCM and Christ received stabbing victims. May have been three stabbings, total.

I went outside that night. There were black teens scattering. Evergreen park police were stopping cars and people walking. The officers would ask where they were coming from or where they were going. They would make up a answer. The officers would then ask are they sure they weren't at a party on utica.Teens would of course say no. The officers would then tell them to get out of here. Eventually the 5th district came out with a armored personel carrier and the palos hills command van came as well. One male was taken out in handcuffs swearing that he justgot home from work. After that I received another automated call from oak lawn police saying it was safe again. Commonly east of kedzie is known as the ghetto side in evergreen park because we are getting a lot of that type over here. Several of us have asked for police patrols to be increased but actually we see the patrol cars even less since the stabbing. Drive on 95th street and a lot of them are parked along it. Then check 1 of the 2 7-11 stores in town if you want to seethe remainder of on duty officers.

@Colleen Seiter June 17, 2013 at 06:02 pm why did they call us at 2am to inform us about this? It is unnecessary and rude. @^^Not unnecessary or rude!! Try "appropriate". Quite obvious you don't understand what happens in these type of situations. Hope it don't happen where ever it is you live. I'm sure it's perfect where you never ever get a "courtesy" call when needed.

@wyatt earp states: "Commonly east of kedzie is known as the ghetto side in evergreen park" ....Wow and I imagine its a perfect world on the other side of kedzie!! what a joke! don't even get me started on the other side of town..
wyatt earp June 18, 2013 at 02:54 AM
@GIGI- I have a lot of friends that live in the portion west of kedzie so I know that side. It doesn't compare to the east side. When did you have to report shots fired last? Have you had a neighbor that after a brief standoff was arrested then when his home was searched they found stockpile of weapons such as swords, crossbows, firearms. Some weapons were behind drywall then some buried in yard. It was so bad the bomb squad took stuff away in trailer used for transporting bombs. Have you had a cab driver beaten and left for dead in your alley? Need I continue???

I grew up in River Forest , this stuff happened there too; mixing teens, alcohol and lazy or indifferent parents and this is what happens

I listen to the whole thing unfold on the police scanner, the officer that was in charge at the scene, did in excellent job on calling different villages/towns for back up, but also to make sure the house was surrounded so nobody slip out of the house. I know from listening that Oak Lawn, Chicago, Hometown, and Marionette Park police departments were asked for back up. I think EPPD handled the situation great, and to call neighbors or the area around to make them aware of the situation was top notch. If Oak Lawn would do the same thing and make their citizens aware of situations going on in the community that would be great. I thought the Alert System is Oak Lawn was for everything, and not just weather conditions?
fred June 18, 2013 at 03:50 PM
@ John. not sure what is meant by River Forest. It also borders the city. What else would be expected ???

I want everyone to also know that I am in the southeast section near 101st and Francisco and our house was robbed and ransacked Friday night June 14 and all our electronics jewelry and even my kids piggy banks were taken. They took slats out of my back privacy fence and came through our kitchen window while we were gone or the night! We notified police when we arrived home 5pm Saturday and they tried to get prints but found none! Pass the word around town as there have been lots of robber irises in our area lately and one just a block away two weeks ago! Get alarms and dogs!
BertH June 18, 2013 at 07:08 PM
Good they've should've arrested those bums. Great job EP Police.
fred June 19, 2013 at 12:26 AM
@Karen..Sorry to hear that. Warm weather brings out the bugs and thugs from their hiding spots. But back to the stabbing, West side of OL, the next night, near Ridge Mall, had some Arab in a hoodie stab some guy.. Arab's still on the loose, who knows where?? Warm weather has definitely arrived.

@FRED- I drove by there on my way home and seen the police helicopter with search light and attempted perimeter. Now I say attempted perimeter for this reason. When you have a oak lawn police officer sitting on end of one block without the spot light turned on and pointed down the block he is supposed to be watching and he is looking at his phone instead of watching for any movement on the block he was assigned to then typically even a whale could slip past. Just this officer's 2 cents.
fred June 19, 2013 at 07:45 PM
@wyatt,chuckle on.........I like that 2 cents. All in all, I think it was handled well. the other agencies were pretty busy with the usual calls. EP requested and received a good amount of assistance. I say handled well in the sense that the bad guys were caught. But I'd like the names posted. I mean, common, arrests, or not, and whom?
wyatt earp June 23, 2013 at 04:16 PM
Months for fingerprints to be processed? That is ridiculous. They only have to send them off to the Illinois state police crime lab where they would be scanned and compared to prints already in the data base. If there is a match its a instant result. If there is no match it would be ran through system periodically to see if a match has been added to the system.
