2 Men Robbed Pepe's Restaurant on Friday Night: Police

Both suspects believed to be involved in the robbery by gunpoint of the Mexican restaurant remain at large.

Evergreen Park police are searching for two suspects in the Friday night armed robbery of Pepe’s Restaurant.

Two men walked into the restaurant, located at 2942 West 95th, at about 10 p.m., police said. One robber drew a handgun and demanded money from both the register and the restaurant manager’s pockets.

After swiping the cash, both men fled westbound on 95th Street in a black vehicle.

No one was injured during the robbery, police said.

One suspect is described as a black male, between 5-foot, 9-inches and 5-foot, 10-inches tall, with a dark complexion and a thin mustache. He was seen wearing a black jacket with a Chicago American Giants logo on the front and the word “Chicago” in red letters on the back.

Police said the second suspect was described as a black male, between 5-foot, 6-inches and 5-foot, 8-inches tall, with stubble. He was seen wearing a black bandana with red stripe and dark, hooded coat.

The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Evergreen Park Police Department at 708-422-2142.

I'm shocked they headed west!!!
MARY Usher January 28, 2014 at 09:35 AM
It sounds like this happened at PePes carry out place on 95th and Richmond and not at the newly opened, sit down restaurant further west near Central Park. Too bad, the owners are hard working and very nice!

I would like to thank the community of Evergreen Park for your support. I unfortunately was the manager on duty when the robbery occurred. Although the experience was unnerving, I will not be deterred in my quest to serve this community that I love the finest Mexican food. I am a strong willed man who will not be beaten by two individuals who are the dregs of our society. You will see me with a smile on my face as I proudly serve the wonderful citizens of this great town. In closing I sould like to commend the Evergreen Park police department for their fine work and help

The police were very professional and courteous. I know they will do their best in the attempt to arrest these individuals. Thank you EPPD, your community supports you.
BertH January 28, 2014 at 11:07 AM
I hope the EPD find these hoods and prosecute them to the MAX. Everyone in this community. Please keep your eyes and ears open. It is ok to profile when robbers were partially identified. Keep on pushing Frank.

Get your F.O.I.D. cards and sign up for conceal carry. This is the only way to stop this.

It's sad that we get news alerts about school closings but there was no news alert about this robbery on Friday

Suspects were black?? Weird..
Concerned Resident January 29, 2014 at 09:54 PM
They can identify general description if suspects, they always do! They were Thugs! How about the village installing outdoor cameras in hot spot areas?
Concerned Resident January 29, 2014 at 11:24 PM
Kathy why would it shock you for them to head West on 95th? They probably pulled up in front of Pepe s w car Facing West on 95th! Do you think they should make an illegal U turn and Head east on 95th? Where the Thugs probably live? And then get pulled over by the cops? Hence why they went West? Just saying
Concerned Resident January 29, 2014 at 11:26 PM
@norman have you eaten there?
kathy January 30, 2014 at 08:11 AM
@concerened citizen...I just figured they'd want to get out of EP fast, not drive thru EP & OL...Could've just went around Richmond then headed east..back home to Chitown ??
Concerned Resident January 30, 2014 at 01:28 PM
I thought it was at 95th Central Park????? Which one????
MARY Usher January 30, 2014 at 01:37 PM
The address in the article is 2942 W95th so that would be the carry out store at Richmond.
Roy Keane January 30, 2014 at 05:56 PM
The EPPD will not catch these guys unless they come back to the village and commit a similar crime more sloppily. It's not like they have detectives working in shifts to solve the case of the 2 black cash register robbers. The sooner conceal and carry gets going in this state, particularly this town, the sooner the robberies of our restaurants, 7-11's, and gas stations the better we all will be because it's truly the only way to solve this. And the next group of inner city savages that want to come and steal the hard earned money of our local businesses can meet with a bullet to the face.
Roy Keane January 30, 2014 at 06:00 PM
@Concerned Resident You're obviously one of the many ignorant people out there that believes camera are the answer. I know of several small businesses that have gotten knocked off with the cameras just as often as without the cameras. Cameras aren't physically going to stop a crime or apprehend a perpetrator.
kathy January 30, 2014 at 06:11 PM
I agree about the cameras Roy, they know how to knock them out or avoid them, or just go to the next business that doesn't have one. Sadly I agree about the guns too. It may be the only way.
Roy Keane January 30, 2014 at 07:40 PM
@Kathy why is it "sadly" that you agree? If you think it's going to help solve these problems, what's so sad about it?!?!??
kathy January 30, 2014 at 08:39 PM
I'm sad that's it's come to the point where I would feel safer in this town is I was armed. Instead of years ago when I moved in and felt safe in my own home or walking around my neighborhood. Shouldn't be that way. I shouldn't be afraid in my own house or neighborhood.
Concerned Resident January 30, 2014 at 09:58 PM
@roy I was referring to cameras outside on big posts like you see in the inner city in hot spots not in the stores don't attack when you don't know the facts
Concerned Resident January 30, 2014 at 09:59 PM
I thought the owner said the place was new? Isn't that the new Pepe s at 95th and Central Park?
BertH January 31, 2014 at 09:14 AM
EPD residents, conceal carry the only way to go.
Roy Keane January 31, 2014 at 01:07 PM
@Kathy ok I see. Was just hoping you weren't one of those people that was anti-gun when there's a growing need for guns in this town. And @concerned resident here's a fact for you: the reason there are not and won't be any cameras "outside in the big posts like you see in inner city hotspots" is because you're not in the inner city, you're in a suburb that hasn't devoted any tax dollars to an initiative like this." Guess how much that would cost you as a tax payer just take a guess. Like BertH says, conceal and carry is the only way. Cheaper and will reduce crime.
Concerned Resident January 31, 2014 at 10:54 PM
Understandable about the camera issue with cost but will violence deter violence? Or will it increase violence, just saying!
Roy Keane February 01, 2014 at 01:33 AM
@concerned resident Well IM JUST SAYING that of course it would deter violence. A criminal is not going to be so eager to run into a place and hold it up when they DONT KNOW whether they'll be met with equal force or not. That's the whole point of conceal and carry- you have no idea who is going to point a gun right back at you: the shopkeeper, a Samaritan from behind, etc. between questioning conceal carry and suggesting cameras that don't do anything, this isn't the best topic for you to add rationale is it LOL
Concerned Resident February 01, 2014 at 03:09 PM
Sounds risky still but however you say we are not the inner city with need for cameras or are area does not warrant them but we need to conceal weapons? Sounds inner city ish to me?!
Roy Keane February 01, 2014 at 06:44 PM
@concerned citizen You'll never understand so I'll leave it right there. If you'd care to open your mind on the subject feel free to do some research as to how beneficial conceal and carry is and how it may one day save YOUR life.
Roy Keane February 02, 2014 at 02:30 PM
And as for which direction they had their car facing or what strategic direction they when after the robbery: have any of you been up and down Kedzie between 91st and 94th? It's no longer a stretch that these savages are coming from within our beloved EP.
Dan February 06, 2014 at 02:23 PM

Concerned Resident February 06, 2014 at 11:25 PM
