A Mokena man pleading guilty and getting 10 years for a 2001 murder was just one of the things going on in court last week.

A Mokena man convicted of murder will spend less time in prison than he did on the street following the 2001 killing.
Marcus Jones, 32, took a 10-year prison sentence for killing 20-year-old Terrance Chandler in May 2001. Chandler was found dead outside the Joliet city limits on Patterson Road.
Jones was arrested and charged with Chandler's murder in March 2012.
Here's what else was going on in court last week:
- A Joliet man charged with slashing and stabbing his girlfriend so severely she may lose an arm heard voices in his head, was shaking and had a "crazy look in his eye" just before the attack, a prosecutor said during a bond hearing.
- A daughter of Will County Board Republican Chairman Jim Moustis told a judge she couldn't come up with the $515 she needs to get out of jail, but then bonded out anyway.
- A man charged with a brazen breakfast rush killing at a popular West Jefferson Street restaurant pleaded not guilty during his arraignment.
- A trial to determine whether a former Lincoln-Way Central High School teacher was sane when he allegedly threatened district officials began.
- The trial for a Plainfield woman charged with a 2007 murder trial was scheduled to be set next month.
- Google surrendered the email records of a Joliet woman charged with setting up and indulging in a sex date with a teenage boy, a prosecutor said during a hearing at the Will County Courthouse.
- A man claiming he was left paralyzed by a gun attack in the Fairview Homes housing project is suing the city and the Housing Authority of Joliet.
- An arrest warrant was issued for an Aurora woman who allegedly smuggled cell phones into Stateville Correctional inmates while working at the prison as a phlebotomist.
