To the Teachers of School District 124

A teacher pens a letter to her former teachers in Evergreen Park Dist. 124.

A story:

There once was a 6-year-old who went to school, pretty unwillingly. How could anyone want to leave home to go to school all day? Well, it didn’t take long for that 6-year-old to change her mind. She actually liked going to school. Her teachers taught her to love to read. Her teachers taught her to be fascinated by the world, its people and many... cultures. But most importantly, her teachers taught her respect and to always stick up for what is right.

Thank you for continuing to be an example of respect. Thank you for continuing to stick up for what is right. Most of all, thank you for sticking up for your students, their education, and the entire village of Evergreen Park. Even though you are out of the classroom, you continue to teach important lessons to both your students and your community.

For every unkind word that is thrown at you, for every disheartening meeting, and every day you wait for the right decision to be made - please know there are thousands of students that are successful, healthy and happy adults because of you. You are the backbone of our community, you are the reason so many people love the village of Evergreen Park.

And that six-year-old, is now twenty-four. She still loves to read. She is still fascinated by the world. And she still goes to school everyday---this time as the teacher.

With respect and admiration,
Molly Malone
