Five Things You Need to Know this Week: Oct. 24-28

Talk about your village's future, read about a weekend that honored Army Spec. Jared Stanker and visit the Farmer's Market for the last time this year. Here are five things you need to know to start your week off with a bang!

1. Army Spc. Jared Stanker Honored

Over the weekend, the village, family and friends honored Spc. Jared Stanker, who died in 2009 in a roadside attack in Afghanistan. The village named an honorary street after him and saw his photo along with over 240 others on the Illinois Patriot Guard Fallen Heroes Traveling Memorial Wall at the Saturday. , and if you knew Stanker, tell us your sweet memory in the comments section.

2. Patch Community Forums Coming Soon

If you've always wanted a forum to talk about the issues affecting Evergreen Park and your vision for your village in the future, then you don't want to miss what's coming your way. In November, Patch will host two community forums with a specific focus on development in the village. Be on the lookout for more information in on Wednesday morning.

3. Last Week for the Farmer's Market

This Thursday is the last day for the Take some time and visit and support the local economy. The market is in the parking lot at 89th and Kedzie 7 a.m. - 1 p.m.

4. Rummage Sale at The Well

will be hosting a If you'd like to be a vendor, $10 covers your table rental and fee for both days. Visitors may come and find a bargain, and snack on hotdogs, chips and pop at a small price.
