Local Foodie Treasures: Fish Sandwich

Looking for a delicious fish sandwich? I found one!

Each year during Lent I seek out meatless food. I tried a delicious fish sandwich last Friday. , 3301 W. 95th Street, offers a cod sandwich for $3.29.

While the breading on the fish was crunchy, the inside was tender and flaky. It was cooked to perfection. Pappys served the fish sandwich with tartar sauce, shredded lettuce and a slice of tomato. The tartar sauce had a mild, pleasant flavor and was a perfect accompaniment to the fish. I thoroughly enjoyed the added texture from the crispy, shredded lettuce. The tomato slice was firm and juicy. The bun was soft. All parts of the sandwich were very fresh. The sandwich was filling and satisfying.

Pappys also offers excellent fries. Mine were hot and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, appropriately salted. A small order is generously sized. The sandwich and small fries is enough to satisfy a hearty appetite.

It was my first time eating in the restaurant. The service was very friendly. The restaurant was very clean and well tended to. When placing an order to dine in, customers can sit down at a table and their food is brought to them when ready. If pop is ordered, one may serve oneself at the fountain. The restaurant is decorated with a sports theme and has assorted sports pictures on the walls. The bathroom was also very clean.

During my lunch visit, Pappys was quite busy and had at least 6 people ahead of me both placing orders and waiting. I received my food in a reasonable amount of time. No one waited excessively long for their order. Pappys handled the crowd very well.
