Root for the Home Team: Get Out!

Help the Evergreen Park Community High School celebrate their homecoming and gear up for the big crosstown homecoming game against Oak Lawn, and listen to skilled pianists tickle the ivories at Dueling Pianos.

This is a BIG weekend for Evergreen Park Community High Schoolers! They'll take on the Oak Lawn Spartans Friday and celebrate their homecoming. So get out the house and have a little fun! Here are a few things going on this weekend to keep you busy.

1. 

Join Evergreen Park Community High School for a Friday full of fun Homecoming events! Cheer on the Mustangs as they engage in a little crosstown battle against the  Spartans. Immediately after the Varsity football game, the EP Homecoming game, the EPCHS Alumni Association and EPCHS Foundation for Educational Excellence is sponsoring a 21+ post party at the American Legion Hall, 9701 S. Kedzie Ave. Admission is free, but there is a cash bar.

When: Friday, Sept. 30, 7:00 p.m. Varsity Game

2. 

Looking for a treasure with a story? Drop by this multi-family yard sale for great bargains on toys, halloween costumes, kids' clothing, furniture, household items and plenty more. Rain or shine, these families will be out there bright and early!

When: Saturday, Oct. 1, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: 9100 S Utica Ave

Cost: Free entry

3. 

Like to hear your favorite pianist tickle the ivories? Hop on down the street to Jacob's Well Church Community to see Dueling Pianos on Saturday. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. No tickets will be sold at the door, but if you're still thinking about going, call  Jane at 708-269-2630 OR Diane at 708-650-0993. Bring your own drinks and appetizers for your group.

When: Saturday, Oct. 1, 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

4. 

Get ready to use military-style training to get in the best shape ever! This class, with Coach Luch, is for all fitness levels. Gym shoes, water bottle, and a jump rope are required for participants. Register at the Recreation Department's office in the Hamilton B. Maher Community Center 3450 W. 97th St., Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to noon. For information, call 708-229-3373. 

When: Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m.

Cost: $50 for 10 classes

5. 

Donean Masokas is one of many people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who benefit from ’s vocational and residential programs. Masokas' family is hosting a “Bears Bash Game and Party” fundraiser on Sunday. Proceeds will benefit Masokas and her friends at Park Lawn. Everyone over the age of 21 is invited to root for the Chicago Bears as they battle against the Carolina Panthers.
