Palos Firefighter from Evergreen Park Healing from Oct. Ceiling Collapse

A fundraiser is planned for Dec. 8 to help Michael "Sully" Sullivan and his family as he recovers from injuries sustained during a house fire.

A Palos firefighter from Evergreen Park faces months of recovery after a ceiling collapsed on him during an October fire, Sun-Times Media reports.

Michael “Sully” Sullivan, a part-time firefighter with North Palos Fire Protection District, was trapped during a fire on Oct. 6, injuring his knee, shoulder and back, according to the report.

Three firefighters were injured while battling the blaze on the 13200 block of S. 84th Court when a large portion of ceiling fell on top of the men, Fire Chief Patrick Gericke reported at the time. Two of the men were treated and released that same day.
