Shelter Dog Finds Home, Only to Be Dognapped From Backyard

Help find this missing dog who was adopted from the Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge.

Volunteers from the Animal Welfare League are doing all they can to help spread the word about a dog that was recently stolen from his owner's backyard in the hopes of facilitating his safe return.

Spencer, a 35-pound pit bull mix, was at the animal shelter for over 10 months. During that time volunteers became fond of the small pup and his friendly and playful nature. He was especially popular with kids who would come in to the shelter, a volunteer said.

After almost a year in a cage he was finally adopted by a family from Berwyn who hoped to give him his forever home. All seemed happy until a couple of weeks ago.

On Aug. 26 Spencer was taken from a locked backyard on 26th and Home Avenue in Berwyn. The volunteers from the Animal Welfare League who grew so attached to the dog are now organizing an effort to bring him back home.

They say three-year-old Spencer is very friendly and loving. He is brindle colored with a white chest. If you have any information at all you are asked to call (708) 205-4841 or email hellopittieswindycity@gmail.com. Absolutely no questions will be asked.

Share this with your social media networks and let's help find Spencer.
