Week in Review: Winter Whiteout, New Features and Remembering Lane Bryant Tragedy

A recap of this week's top stories

This week was chock full of news. As 20 inches of snow decended upon the entire Chicago area, making this the third biggest blizzard in the region, Patch was busy bringing you up-to-the-minute updates of Snowmageddon 2011 in our .

The blizzard of epic proportions brought up many interesting reads for Evergreen Park Patch. LaGrange Patch editor Beth Palmer told us how we could prepare for the blizzard, while we saw how local grocery and hardware stores were bracing for the storm. Oak Lawn Patch editor Lorraine Swanson told us in an interview with Dr. Brian Sayger. We learned that during the beginning stages of the blizzard, the bought a snowmobile that assisted in 8 ambulance calls between Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. After the storm, village officials helped update us via phone in our Blizzard Aftermath Updates. Later, you ranked your town on after the blizzard.

The week marked the third anniversary of the Lane Bryant killings. Tinley Park Patch editor Paul Dailing gave us a "" view and caught us up on the status of the investigation. Dailing took a look at the fate of the abandoned storefront where Lane Bryant once stood. Later, Frankfort Patch editor Joe Vince showed us a video of one of the victim's family, . Patch introduced three new features to the site this week. In our new weekly photo gallery, we showed you scenes from Snowmageddon 2011. gave you five fun places that you could go in the Southland over the weekend. Sold! gave you an inside peek at the real estate transactions that were recently made in Evergreen Park. Bites Nearby gave you a great restaurant that you could check out in the Southland, Carmen’s Jazz Bistro in Palos Heights. In the new Patch Picks, we gave you five spots to check out the Super Bowl. Lastly, another new feature we introduced to you was , a photo gallery of houses in the area that are for sale, courtesy of .

Last, but not least, Colleen Kant introduced us to John H. Anderson in the Weekly Business Spotlight. Anderson is a jack-of-all-trades. With an office in Evergreen Park for the past 20 years, he practices law in the areas of real estate, estate planning, workers’ compensation, personal injury and state income tax, among others.
