Holiday Donation Opportunities in Evergreen Park

Have many gently used clothing items that you don't have a need for anymore? Or don't know what to do with that old fax machine? There are plenty of opportunities to donate them during the holiday season and beyond right here in Evergreen Park.

1.

9525 S Lawndale Ave.

The Fourth Grade Girl Scouts are colelcting travel-sized containers of hand sanitizer, beef jerky, packs of sunflower seeds and packs of wet hand wipes to send to our Marines serving in Afghanistan. Items will be collected in the church vestibule of Most Holy Redeemer until Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24th.

The Youth Ministry of Most Holy Redeemer and St. John Fisher, 10200 South Washtenaw Avenue in Chicago, are collecting any new or used (but in good condition) adult and child-sized clothing, toys, gloves, shoes, scarves, hats, coats, jewelry, blankets, books, electronics, and school supplies. All donations can go to the MHR Rectory at the above address. Label the boxes "Youth Ministry."

The Evergreen Park American Legion is assisting "OPERATION CARE PACKAGE" in bringing Holiday Cheer to our soldiers overseas. They are requesting the following items: personal hygiene, disposable razors, canned soups, chilis, spaghetti-os, fruit, fruit snacks, granola, fruit bars, beef jerky, slim jims, microwave oatmeal and any small gifts. You may drop your items off at the post, 9701 S. Kedzie, or at 3939 W. 95th St. Until Nov. 29th. For more information, call Louise at (773) 490-4999.

The community center is hosting its Annual Coat Drive. Drop off any new or used coats to The Hamilton B. Maher Community Center, 3450 W. 97th Street, room 105 Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

If you happened to miss the benefitting the Village Pantry, they are still accepting food donations. For more information, call 773-764-6474.

6. EP Electronic Recycle Drop-Off Site

93rd & Sawyer Ave.

Have any electronics that you don't use anymore? The Evergreen Park Electronic Recycle Drop-Off Site is now open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The village will accept computers, monitors, cables, keyboards, fax machines, printers, mobile phones, video games, PDA's, zip drives, microwave ovens, telephones, stereos, radios and small household appliances.

9400 S. Troy Ave.

The Evergreen Park Public Library is accepting new hats, mittens, scarves and gloves to decorate its Mitten Tree. Donations will warm those in need this Holiday Season. All sizes are welcome.
