Headliner: Ashley Luke-Clanton Named New McAuley Basketball Coach

Mother McAuley tapped into a fertile coaching family to come up with its new girls basketball coach. Ashley Luke-Clanton was named the Mighty Macs' newest coach on Wednesday. She's this week's Evergreen Park Headliner.

Hailing from a fertile coaching family, Ashley Luke-Clanton now calls the Mother basketball court "home." Mother McAuley named her as the Mighty Macs' newest basketball coach on Wednesday. She replaces Karen Ade.

Luke-Clanton's basketball career spans from Aurora-based Waubonsie Valley High School where she was a three-time All-America selection for the Warriors, to DePaul University, where she earned all-conference academic honors while with the Blue Demons in 2002-04. She spent one year playing professional ball overseas, then returned home to begin her coaching career as an assistant in the women's program at Loyola University.

B.J. Luke, Luke-Clanton's father, played strong safety at Georgia. He currently works as the athletic director and head football coach at Danville High School. Her brother, R.J. Luke, played tight end at Penn State and spent a year as a fullback with the Seattle Seahawks. He's now the head football coach at Springfield High School.
