The Public Works department reported that all major streets were plowed.

If you need help removing snow, the Youth Commission has volunteers who will help shovel you out. Call Jim Feltz at 708-229-3377.

Wind chills are expected to drop to as low as 15 below zero across portions of north central Illinois, according to the National Weather Service. Light rain may also mix with the snow.

Yesterday, District 124 said there would be no school closures and all after-school activities will go on as usual. There's no word yet on whether or not there are any other school closures in the village.

A w. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Southland until 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13. 

The National Weather Service reminds residents to only travel in an emergency, but if you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 11

After unseasonably warm weather for the Chicago area, Evergreen Park and surrounding municipalities can expect the first major snowfall of the season.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect for the Chicago area from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, bringing significant snow and strong winds.
