ComEd Outage Alerts Program Offering 2-Way Texting

ComEd's Outage Alerts Program is now allowing customers to report outages via text messaging. Users may also receive updates via text message to the phone registered at their address.

Before spring and summer storms make their way to Evergreen Park, residents have many ways to prepare for its many effects and find out how to stay informed in case of an emergency.

ComEd's Outage Alerts Program now allows two-way texting. In addition to receiving information and updates on outages at your home, residents can text "OUT" to 26633 to report power outages.

The text message will report an outage at the location that ComEd has associated with the user's cell phone number. Users may also receive regular updates on the status of their outage until service is restored.

Non-subscribers who text "OUT" to 26333 will be invited to subscribe to the program, then receive a confirmation, which will allow them to receive notifications when an outage has been reported at their address.

To subscribe, customers will need either the ComEd account number, the account holder's social security number or the primary phone number on the account. Customers can also now enroll in the text message program thru the VRU using their account number, social security number or phone number.
