Caution: Dangerously Cold Temperatures to Hit the Village This Week

Wind Chill Advisory will drop the temperature to 20 below Tuesday and remains in effect until Thursday.

Bundle up. Bitterly cold temperatures are expected for the next few days.

According to the National Weather Service, arctic winds will settle into the area Tuesday, lingering until Thursday. Temperatures are expected to fall to the single digits this afternoon. Shortly after sunset, temperatures will continue to fall. Steady winds of 10 to 15 miles per hour and sub-zero temperatures will both create very cold wind chill temperatures along and north of interstate 80 from this evening through Wednesday morning.

The wind chill, which is expected to be 20 to 25 degrees below zero, can cause frostbite to the skin within 30 minutes. Anyone outside for an extended period of time is also in danger of hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
