Oak Lawn Denny's Re-Opens Thursday After Renovation

First 100 diners through Denny's doors at 9 a.m. Thursday will receive free Grand Slam breakfasts.


Denny’s in Oak Lawn is reopening its doors at 9 a.m. Thursday in celebration of its recent remodeling  The newly renovated restaurant at 9217 S. Cicero Ave. offers diners a first look at "its all-new, locally-inspired design," prominently featuring an exclusive Illinois wheat field. 

Other updates include a reinvigorated menu with a renewed focus on classic diner favorites. The restaurant will be open 24/7.

The Oak Lawn Denny’s provides more than 45 jobs for local residents. Additional staff has been hired in anticipation of the reopening, the company said in a press release.

To kick off the grand opening, Denny’s will reward the first 100 diners through the door with a free Original Grand Slam breakfast, which includes two buttermilk pancakes, two eggs cooked to order, two bacon strips and two sausage links.

The celebration continues throughout the day with a free Classic Burger and Fries give to the first 25 lunch guests to drop by the restaurant beginning at noon, and a free entree for the first 25 dinner guests to dine at Denny’s at 6 p.m. Hundreds of additional prizes will be given away throughout Thursday.

District manager Ben Richter said the restaurant has been a key part of the Oak Lawn community for nearly 40 years.  

The redesign is a company-wide effort to re-brand Denny’s with the new tagline, “America’s Diner.”  Denny’s plans to remodel 80 percent of its restaurants by 2018, America’s Builders Quarterly reported.
