A convoy of semi-trucks full of propane tanks, nails, dry wall, sinks, toilets, paint, wallpaper, tools and an array of home improvement goods have been arriving steady at the new store at 91st Street and Western Avenue in Evergreen Park.

“They’ve done a lot of hiring and stocking the place,” Sexton said. “As soon as they can get it stocked, [Menards.] will open the store.”

Last month, the mega-home improvement store held job fairs for local residents, including a special job fair at Village Hall specifically for Evergreen Park residents. The store is expected to employ around 150 people.

A peak through the windows on Thursday afternoon still showed a lot of empty shelves inside the store, but nevertheless, the new Menards will be open for business sometime this month.

The new Meijer adjacent to Menards is still under construction.
