Recovered Body Thought to be Missing Evergreen Park Man: Police

Police have tentatively identified a body found Thursday morning in Belmont Harbor as that of Christopher Evans, a part-time Loyola University student who has been missing since Sunday, the Chicago Tribune reports.

A body pulled from Belmont Harbor early Thursday has been tentatively identified by police as a missing Evergreen Park man, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Christopher Evans, a part-time student at Loyola University, has been missing since early Sunday, and friends, family and Chicago police have been searching for him.

Evans was last seen around 1:30 a.m. leaving Roscoe’s Tavern, 3356 N. Halsted St., in Lake View’s Boystown neighborhood. He was walking east on West Roscoe Street alone, and his cell phone has not been on since then. Police found Evans' car near Broadway and Cornelia Avenue, which is about a block away from Belmont Harbor, the Tribune reported.

The body of a black man in his 20s was seen in the harbor at about 9 a.m. Thursday, July 4, near 3500 N. Belmont Harbor Dr., the Tribune reported, citing a police source. Officials were waiting for the family to positively identify the body, and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday, July 5, according to the Tribune.

Evans was enrolled in the M.B.A. program at Loyola's Quinlan School of Business. He is also a financial analyst at the university's Budgeting and Finance Office in the Financial Services Office.
