'Work Out To Wipe Out' Domestic Violence Kicks Off Saturday

Morgan Park Junior Women's Club hosts all-day fitness event to raise money for local counseling services and raise awareness of domestic violence Saturday, March 22..


More than 18 fitness centers have partnered with GFWC Junior Women’s Club for the third annual “Work Out To Wipe Out Domestic Abuse” benefit to bring greater awareness to domestic violence and its negative impact on families and the community.

Fitnesses centers and healthcare providers in Morgan Park, Beverly, Mt. Greenwood and Evergreen Park have scheduled one or more fitness activities throughout the day on Saturday, March 22.

Whether you’re a regular at a fitness or running club, occasionally attend a yoga session, or have thought about trying Tai Chi, you will find an activity that suits you on the Morgan Park Junior Women’s Club fitness benefit day.

The first scheduled fitness event starts at 7 a.m. and the last event begins around 2 p.m. Featured activities include running, walking, tennis drills, yoga, cardio fusion, spinning, strength training, tai chi, fit and fierce self-defense, cross training, and relaxing and healing exercises. Junior Women’s Club chapters around the country are hosting their own fitness benefit days to raise funds for local domestic violence shelters and treatment centers.

All proceeds raised by the Morgan Park chapter’s will go directly toward go directly to A New Direction Beverly Morgan Park (A.N.D.), a local non-profit agency that provides counseling and advocacy services to families affected by domestic violence. A.N.D.’s services are provided at no charge to its clients; and since the agency is funded entirely through donations and grants (it receives no government funding), community support is vitally important.
