Why go: The Evergreen Park Public Library presents a place for quilters to get together on a weekly basis and talk strategy. Instructer Penny Nichols will share her knowledge. A sewing machine is not required.

Why go: Join Oak Lawn-based Park Lawn at its first annual "A Rhapsody in Blue" Silent/ Live Auction and Dinner, and Fund-A-Cause for the Park Lawn Angels Program. Dance to the live usic of SUNDANCE and enjoy a premium open bar, valet parking and more. Cocktail hour starts at 6:00 p.m. and dinner starts promptly at 7:00 p.m.
Pricing: $125 for single tickets, $225 for couples, $1,000 for a table of ten
Where/When: Opens Friday at 10 a.m. and runs daily 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. through Sunday, Feb. 20, at McCormick Place, 2301 S. Martin Luther King Dr. in Chicago.

Pricing: Admission is $11 for adults, $7 for seniors 62 and older, $7 for children 7 to 12, children 6 and younger free when accompanied by a paying adult. Half-price tickets are available at BP gas stations. Coupons good for $4 weekday discount are available at new car dealerships and most banks. Women admitted for $7 on Tuesday, Feb. 15. Visitors who bring 3 cans of food admitted for $7 on Wednesday, Feb. 16, through Friday, Feb. 18.

Why Go: Listen to jazz performed by Chicago trumpeter Orbert Davis, New Orleans saxophonist Ed Petersen, Larry Gray on bass, music professor Valerie Nicholson on piano, and Joel Spencer on drums.
Pricing: General admission is $12; students and senior citizens tickets are $8.
