Remembering the Brave: Get Out!

Take some time out this Memorial Day weekend to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

MOVING VIET NAM WALL

Where/when: , 14414 Ford Dr, New Lenox, May 27 to May 30.

Why go: Replica of the Viet Nam War Memorial in Washington, D.C., will be on the display in New Lenox throughout Memorial Day Weekend. The wall contains over 58,000 of troops listed according to the day they were killed or went missing in action. Wall display opens with a prayer vigil at 7 p.m. May 27 and concludes with a closing ceremony at 7 p.m. May 30.

Pricing: Free, but donations toward the cost of the display are gratefully accepted.

 

CHILDREN’S MUSEUM OPEN ON MEMORIAL

Where/when: Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn, 5100 Museum Drive, Oak Lawn, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why go: Kids and their families can make patriotic crafts.

 

OAK LAWN MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY

Where/when: Village Green, between the library and village hall, 9446 Raymond Ave, Oak Lawn, 11 a.m. May 30.

Why go: Pay homage to Oak Lawn vets and those who sacrificed their lives.

Pricing: Free. Open to all.

 

CAR SHOW EVERY MONDAY AT THE WATER’S EDGE

Where/when: 7205 W 115th St, Worth, every Monday from 3 to 9 p.m.

Why go: Enjoy a cruise night at the Water's Edge Golf Club. Drink and Food specials available! Musical entertainment as well.

Pricing: Free.

 

Memorial Day Service at Lincoln National Cemetery

Where/when: Lincoln National Cemetary, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL, musical prelude starts at 11 a.m.; ceremony at 11:30 a.m. May 30.

Why go: A Memorial Day program by the main flag pole assembly area to remember and honor all military members who have served or are currently serving. Keynote speaker is Glenn Madderom, Memorial Service Network IV, Engineer.

Pricing: Free. Open to all.
