The host of "Alternative Sounds for Your Head" also shares reviews on Patch.

Meet the Blogger: Ruta Spencer

What can people learn about when they read your blog?

It’s a music blog about CD reviews, interviews, concert reviews, book reviews, music exhibit reviews, etc.

Tell us a bit about yourself -- where are you from, what’s your background?

I live in the Beverly neighborhood and have been a music enthusiast as long as I can remember. After being in the financial industry for many many years, I was finally booted out.

I DJ a radio show at WXAV (St Xavier University) on Wednesday nights called Alternative Sounds For Your Head from 7pm to 9pm. The radio station can be heard on the southside at 88.3FM on the radio dial and globally at www.wxav.com.

What are your ties to the community? How did you get started with a local blog?

I love music and to keep myself sane as I look for work elsewhere, why not blog about something I love, music.

What’s something interesting you would like to share that readers of your blog might not know?

For the radio station I have interviewed Ike Reilly, Henry Rollins, Scott Lucas of Local H, Jon Langford, Sharin Foo of the Raveonettes and have hosted bands in the studio like the Seedy Seeds and the Flips.  I plan to enhance my blog by interviewing local musicians as well as local businesses.

Do you have another website where people can learn more about what you do?
