Longtime Evergreen Resident Saluted on 96th Birthday

Tony Yukich, namesake of Yukich Field, was honored on Wednesday.

Evergreen Park Mayor Jim Sexton hosted a 96th birthday luncheon Wednesday for Tony Yukich. Pictured with his dear friend Virginia Wroble, Yukich joined hundreds at the Evergreen Park American Legion Hall for the occasion.

Yukich attributes his longevity to “clean living, good friends and the close-knit Evergreen Park community.”

In 2000, Yukich was honored for his long-time dedication to the Evergreen Park community when one of the village’s largest parks was named after him.
