Grab & Go Kids Planner

Family fun in the village and the Southland area.

Where/When: Tuesday - Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., open evenings until 8:00pm on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month.

Why Go: Children have the chance to explore the world with hands-on exhibits and activities. The museum is open on President's Day, Feb. 21.

Pricing: Children and adults $6 each, Seniors (55+) $5 each. Children under one, free.

CATS

Where/When:  8 p.m. Feb. 18-Feb. 19 at the Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th St. in Oak Lawn.

Why go: An outstanding youth cast featuring teens from local high schools as well as 50 local children as kittens perform in this lavish production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical, based on Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T. S. Eliot.

Pricing: $18 for adults and seniors; $12 for teens and children; order by calling 708-857-2200.

 

 MISS ANNA'S ART CLASS

Where/When: Feb. 19, 10:30 a.m. at Evergreen Park Public Library, 9400 S. Troy, Evergreen Park

Why go: Children in grades 1-5 will have the chance to listen to stories about art and artists, and then create their own artwork based on various artists’ styles, using different art medias. The class will work on projects inspired by the art of Faith Ringold and Wassily Kandinsky, one of the first modern abstract painters. Registration is required and limited to 20 participants. DAN CON COMIC BOOK SHOW

Where/When: Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Orland Park Civic Center, 14750 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park

Why Go: There will be more than 20 local comic artists, writers and publishers as well as more than 15 local comic book sellers and comic shops on hand.

Pricing: Admission is $2    

 

CHOCOLATE FEST 

Where/When: Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at H-F Park District Auditorium, 2010 Chestnut Road, Homewood.

Why Go: Celebrate the 1950s, enjoy live music from Fast Eddie and the Corvettes, demonstrations from dessert chefs, sample wares from local and national confectioners, play Bingo Stroll and take trolley rides. There’s also a chocolate recipe bake-off.
