Parade planning committee will hold fundraiser at O'Rourke's Office on April 26. Neighborhood parade is one of oldest in Chicago.

The Beverly Area Planning Association’s Memorial Day Parade Committee is hosting a fundraiser from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at O’Rourke’s Office, 11064 S. Western Ave.

The Beverly Hills/ Morgan Park/ Mt. Greenwood Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony is one of Chicago’s oldest Memorial Day celebrations. The parade is organized by BAPA and the office of 19th Ward Alderman Matt O'Shea.

Each year community groups, individuals and families march in the parade with their drums, balloons, lawnmowers, family T-shirts, and decorated bicycles and wagons, making it a fun family celebration. Neighbors along the parade route deck their homes with American flags and other patriotic symbols adding to the festive atmosphere.
