Village Board Meeting

TUESDAY, feb. 22

Birthday Card Papercraft Workshop

When: 9:30 a.m.

Where: , 12700 Southwest Hwy, Palos Park

Join Ann Fowler as she teaches students to make birthday cards, with both masculine and feminine themes. Workshop fee is $17 plus $6 materials fee.  Advance registration is required.

Christine Nuell Art Exhibition

When: 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Where: , 9000 W College Parkway, Palos Hills

In her "Plots and Plays: Laser Engraving" exhibit, Christine Nuell uses a computer and laser engraver to manipulate maps, diagrams and old engravings, many of which were originally created as scientific illustrations or have been altered to appear as if they were, to create collage. 

District 231 Board of Education Meeting

When: 7:00 p.m.

WednESDAY, feb. 23

Oak Lawn and Evergreen Park Chambers Speed Networking

When: 11:30 a.m.

Where: , 5207 W 95th St, Oak Lawn

Opera in an Hour

When: 4 p.m.

Where: Saint Xavier University, 3700 W 103rd St, Chicago, IL

Singers and actors will present the first scenes of several famous operas, including Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” Beethoven’s “Fidelio,” Nicolai’s “The Merry Wives of Windsor,” Menotti’s “The Old Maid and the Thief” and more, all within 75 minutes. Tickets are $6 for general admission and $5 for seniors. Tickets are $2 for seniors and students who reserve seating in advance.Saint Xavier University’s Department of Music presents “Opera in an Hour." CineVerse presents "In Cold Blood"

Visual Artist Nikkole Huss' works at SXU

The works of visual artist Nikkole Huss will be displayed from Thurs., Feb. 3 to Thurs., Feb. 24 at Saint Xavier University's SXU Gallery, located in the Chicago Campus' Warde Academic Center, 3700 W. 103rd St. Huss' art work will include Topographical terrain and Hubble imagery highlight. FRIDAY, feb. 25

O. Gustavo Plascencia Art Exhibition "Collecting: Instantes e Instintos"

When: 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Where: , 9000 W College Parkway, Palos Hills

The Robert F. DeCaprio Art Gallery will host the O. Gustavo Plascencia Art Exhibition. Mystic, ritualistic and historic references are woven through the photo-based works that form part of his fictional, staged environments. All are welcome to attend.

Mighty Mac Mardi Gras

When: 7 p.m.

Where: 115 Bourbon Street 3359 W 115th St, Merrionette Park, IL

This 21 and older event will feature music, dancing, door prizes, and games of chance. Proceeds from the event will benefit McAuley’s student clubs, organizations and sports programs. Pricing is $35 in advance or $40 at the door.
