Reel Talk with the BACinema Following Wednesday Night Film

Enjoy the Chicago premiere of Hannah Arendt at the Beverly Arts Center.

It's time for some Reel Talk. Tonight, the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., will host a screening and discussion about Hannah Arendt, a biographical film about the German-Jewish philosopher and her controversial reporting on the trial of ex-Nazi Adolf Eichmann.

Tickets are $7.50 for non-members and $5.50 for members, with affordable snacks and beverages available for purchase. The film begins at 7:30 p.m.

Suzanne Patterson, director of the Tall Grass Art Film discussion series, will lead tonight's discussion after the film to talk about its portrayal of Arendt's depiction of Eichmann and the Jewish councils.

Tonight's film screening also marks the Chicago premiere of Hannah Arendt, which was released in the U.S. on May 29 of this year.

"Hannah Arendt conveys the glamour, charisma and difficulty of a certain kind of German thought," says A.O. Scott, a New York Times film critic. "Its climax, in which Arendt defends herself against critics, matches some of the great courtroom scenes in cinema and provides a stirring reminder that the labor of figuring out the world is necessary, difficult and sometimes genuinely heroic."
