More About Central Junior High School
Central Junior High School is the only junior high school in district 124. Sitting in the heart of Evergreen Park, it is housed in the same building as the District 124 offices. Rita Sparks serves as the school's principal and Trayon Sallis is the assistant principal; District 124's superintendent is Diane Cody.
"Be ready, be respectful, be responsible" -- the school's motto -- greets visitors as they walk into the main office. The curriculum offered challenges students to do their best, and the faculty serves as students' support system during school.
Students have the chance to participate in several extracurricular activities, including drama, CSI, the Green Club, Declamations literary club, Rock-n-Roll Detention, band, choir or any of the five sports in which the school competes.
Central Junior High School invites the community to attend its annual Literacy Night, book fairs, drama performances, ELL/ESL parent meetings and other public performances. Eighth graders are all required to participate in the district community-service activities, where they read books to younger students.
