Recipe: Slow-Cooked Oatmeal

Are you ready to wake up and have your healthy breakfast all ready for you? I have the recipe to make that dream come true. I do not worry about leaving my slow cooker on while I sleep- if you do, try this during the day when you are home and just reheat.

Slow cooked oatmeal                           Yield: 6 servings

4 cups milk ( soy milk worked,too)

1 cup steel-cut oats

1 cup dried fruit ( cherries, cranberries, bananas, etc.)

1/3 cup packed brown sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

Mix all of the ingredients in a slow cooker and set it on low for 7 hours. When you are ready to eat, just put it in a bowl, thin it out with more milk if it is too thick for you and enjoy. We sprinkled chopped nuts on top for a little crunch just befroe eating.

Perfect on these cold mornings :) And, good for you!

Yum! Steel cut oats are so much tastier than quick cooked oats and the slow cooker makes it so easy. I love to wake up to the smell of oatmeal and spices in the morning!

It makes the day start so much better! And, with 17* coming- we can all use a good warm start :) Thanks for responding- I always wonder if anyone uses the recipes!
