Marist High School Rolls On........

Another exciting week at Marist has come and gone...

-In Football, the top ranked RedHawks took on defending conference co-champ Nazareth in a matchup of unbeaten teams. It was a very slow start for Marist who experienced a 14-0 first half deficit.  After the shaky first half, Marist got on track in the 3rd quarter with a 17 yard touchdown by running back Peter Andreotti.  The Junior from Western Springs rushed for a game high 148 yards, 117 of those yards coming in the 2nd half.

The RedHawks tied the game at 14 with a 7 yard run from QB Ian Woodworth in the 3rd quarter.  To break the tie, Marist took the air with Woodworth hooking up with Junior Wide Receiver Nic Weishar from 14 yards out and took a 21-14 lead.  Nazareth would answer quickly with a drive highlighted by a 57 yard catch by Zachary Manuel.

The RedHawks offense got the ball back with 1:14 seconds remaining, starting at the 35 yard line.  Woodworth was able to drive the team down to the 15 yard line setting up Cillian Hannon a field goal attempt from 32 yards.  The junior Kicker connected and the RedHawks stayed unbeaten at 3-0.

The first home game of the 2012 campaign is this Friday vs rival St Patrick with the varsity starting at 7:30pm.  Come out and cheer the RedHawks in the home opener
