The Evergreen Parker wants to know: If you could have one business come to town, what would it be and where would you like to see it?
It's wish week in the Evergreen Parker. This week's simple poll question: If you could name one business you'd like to see come to Evergreen Park, what would it be and where would you want it?
Personally, I'd like to see a no-frills pub or bar with surprisingly good food and an extensive beer list come to a storefront on 95th Street that's within walking distance of my house. That's it. Just a nice bar that's comfortable, occasionally has good music, serves food that people want to eat and that tastes good and serves a good variety of beer, plus mixed drinks. A neighborhood place. A place to hang out, to stop after work, to walk up to on a whim.
So, let's hear it: If you could have one business, which one would it be and where would you want it?

I would like to see a Chipotle in one of the empty store fronts at 87th/88th and Kedzie. It is a healthier eating choice for the walking enthusiasts, families after a soccer or football game etc. Much healthier (and tastier I might add) than the fried chicken or McDonalds across the street.

One vote, via e-mail, for a JCPenney in a revamped Evergreen Plaza.

I would like a Trader Joe's. I am tired of having to drive out to Orland to go there and I think this community could sustain one weather in Evergreen Park or Beverly. I think it would thrive.

a JCPenney would be fabulous in the Plaza. Also a Barnes and Noble in the Plaza or where Fox's Collision was would be great. Also with Karson's closing, another family restaurant would be nice in the village, an alternative to the big chains and something other than chinese, italian/pizza and burger/sandwiches.

I would like to see a JC Penney too! Mariano's is also a nice store. I have never been to Trader Joe's but hear nothing but good things about it, I also think it would thrive in EP.

from what I heard is that the owner of Pappys is the one opening the sports bar where Karson's used to be. That will be nice, since there really isnt a decent place to go for a drink and just hang out. Bleekers and Barracco's are okay, but they get very crowded so it will be nice to have another option.

Trader Joe's, JC Penney, some type of bookstore. Family dining would also be great, and a sports bar would be heaven. It can be difficult to keep our tax dollars here, which is always my first choice. NO MORE BANKS!!! Love your articles, Chris!!

how about a satellite campus for depaul or uic as well... swee baby rays restaurant, joe's crab shack, five guys, Outlet Mall? people love to get a great deal. something that will benefit our community and bring consumers from all over here.... p.f change's, barnes and noble to the plaza, apple store I think people here and around EP would be willing to pay the higher prices for the more sought after services.... how about getting the pool together so my kids can learn how to swim without having to take out a loan to pay for it? the EP community activities center on 91st is too high compared to some other surrounding suburbs. whole foods would be nice.chipotle as well .. something that isn't close and that we would appreciate but it also has to attract the surrounding areas also because we want them to shop in our community also. maybe something recreational for the kids?

Unfortunately, Shawn Good lacks the politcal experience to even submit a valid petition to be on the ballot. Be sure you know who and what you are voting for.

Anyone know if there is any truth to the rumor that there will be a dollar store going into the Southwest Paint store on 95th & Homan? Not a business that I personally want to see coming into EP, and a really horrible location for one regardless.

What about a tech/banking center that has a strong combo of a good bank and opportunity for small business. Restaurants are nice and all, but what about driving business that will add more value?
construct a 10-12 floor building, have bank and coffee shop at bottom
lease office space for various businesses.

Yes to the dollar store. After 50 years of being in the village southtown paint is gone.
