Police Find Illegal Drugs, Alcohol in Car Full of People
Ignacio C. Martinez, 27, of North Riverside, was charged with possession of marijuana, illegal possession of alcohol, and driving with no insurance. According to reports, Martinez had 4.3 grams of marijuana in his possession.
Police saw Martinez’s car at 91st Street and Western Avenue at about 4:42 p.m. with expired license plates. Martinez provided his license but was unable to produce proof of insurance, and while speaking to Martinez, officers said they could smell alcohol. Martinez said he and the passengers in the car were drinking at the job site they recently left, according to the report. According to police reports, K-9 officer Riley arrived on scene and alerted that there was drugs in the car, and officers found illegal substances. Police said they found a re-rolled cigarette containing marijuana, two plastic bags and an open can of beer.

Plaza Retail Theft
According to police, Ben R. Curtis, 43, of Chicago, took one item valued at $6 from Max 10 Store at Evergreen Plaza, 9500 S. Western Ave. Police said Curtis took a pair of sunglasses at about 3:18 p.m., concealed them in his jeans pocket and walked out of the store.
