In voting for Southland Patch's MVP for Jan. 7-13, who gets the biggest roar from the crowd?
Oak Forest's Maddie Baxa scored 14 points in the Bengals' 42-38 girls basketball victory over Reavis.
Oak Lawn's LaTondra Brooks scored 18 points in the Spartans' 57-42 girls basketball victory over Thornton Fractional North. She also had 18 points in a 60-35 victory over T.F. South.
Bloom Township's Dejahown Freeman scored 21 points in the Blazing Trojans' 53-42 victory over Lockport. He added eight points in a 69-54 win over Sandburg.
Lincoln-Way West's Josh Glover goes by the name of "Perfetct" these days. Glover bowled his second 300 game of the season in the Southwest Suburban Red Conference tournament. He won the individual title with a six-game pinfall total of 1,409 and he led the Warriors to the team title, too.
Andrew's Mike Grenda made four three-pointers and scored a career-high 14 points in the Thunderbolts' 60-42 boys basketball victory over Lincoln-Way East. He also averaged 4.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals over a two-game stretch for the T-Bolts.

My nephew Josh has done it again...shot another perfect game of bowling. Not only did he shoot a 300 during last Saturday's Tournament at Town & Country Lanes in Joliet, but a 289 as well (fell short from a tap in the 10th). I am voting for him to win, but he is already MVP in my eyes! JVG for MVP...Go Josh!!! ~Auntie Micky

That is why I voted for the other bowler and why these polls are pure popularity contests, not MVP's for the week! They should be called MPP's - Most Popular Person!
