Man Blows Through 12 Stop Signs Trying to Flee: Police Blotter
Evergreen Park police arrested a man after he fled from a traffic stop
It wasn't a movie-like ending for a Merrionette Park man as he tried to flee from police.
Michael R. Reidy, 45, of Merrionette Park, faces a felony charge and a number of citations after a traffic stop turned into a high-speed chase.
On Thursday, Jan. 10, at about 8:54 p.m., Reidy was pulled over in the 9100 block of Claremont after Evergreen Park police officers ran his plate and discovered his registration was suspended, police said.
After pulling Reidy over, the officer learned of an active warrant for drugs in Cook County. Police say Reidy refused to get out of his car and replied that he was aware of the warrant. He then sped away, police said.
Officers pursued him and clocked him as doing 46 mph in a 20 mph-zone and observed him running a total of 12 stop signs, police said.
The chase led them through the Beverly neighborhood and Reidy was eventually stopped in the 9100 block of Oakley, police said.
Reidy was charged with felony fleeing and eluding, expired registration, driving with suspended registration, improper use of registration, driving on a suspended license and traffic citations.
